Mothers for All delivered its first commissioned art work to the headquarters of the Metropolitan Foundation in Cape Town on the 14th May. The mission of this newly established Foundation is to help create a society where strong leadership and collaboration lead to sustained behavioural changes in the fields of health and education, with a special focus on HIV and AIDS. The Foundation asked Mothers for All to recreate the logo of their Live the Future programme using our paper beads. This is what we came up with, to widespread enthusiasm and acclaim.

The Live the Future programme outlines four scenarios (named after the four seasons) that illustrate the potential future for South Africa depending on how the country responds to the medical as well as socio-economic problems of the HIV epidemic. Trained Live the Future facilitators run workshops for communities and organisations in order to help the participants establish the key actions that they need to take to bring about a Summer for All.

Over 100 paper beads were rolled from newspaper and painted with an orange wash. They were then threaded with some golden glass beads and stitched onto the painted sun canvas.

Mothers for All is now definitely part of the Summer for All scenario.
